Also in that argument is the head-to-head matchups in most fantasy football formats, as fantasy owners can literally face their friends, family and co-workers one-on-one.<br /><br />Several other sports have tried this head-to-head format, as well. Certainly, Rotisserie scoring is far more popular in baseball than head-to-head, and straight points scoring is more popular in basketball than head-to-head. Still, these formats are worth looking into for the other sports.<br /><br />League stat services such as Fanball's <a href="http://www.fanball.com/leaguecommissioner/?ArenaID=2">Baseball League Manager</a> offer the ability to play in either head-to-head or Rotisserie leagues for baseball. These types of league managers often have similar versions for basketball and hockey as well.<br /><br />Other league services such as Hotbox Sports offer H2H <a href="http://www.hotboxsports.com">free fantasy basketball</a> leagues for fantasy owners to join or create their own private leagues with friends and family.<br /><br />Other popular fantasy sports leagues and league managers that offer free head-to-head play include Yahoo, ESPN and FOXSports.<br /><br />Personally, I prefer standard points and Rotisserie games since there is a huge factor of luck involved with head-to-head formats from week-to-week. Still, I can see the argument for head-to-head formats and understand why different leagues keep this format. I hope you won!<br /><br />Now that it has wrapped up, there are plenty of things that we learned.<br /><br />1. Don't believe the hype<br /><br />In this case, don't believe all of the media outlets meandering about Albert Pujols' elbow injury. He finished the season as the top earner in fantasy baseball, and while he did miss time due to injury, it had nothing to do with his elbow. He won't need Tommy John surgery and enters next season relatively healthy.<br /><br />2. Remember Prime Seasons<br /><br />A-Rod had a nice year, but it was not worthy of the first overall pick. Now he is past his prime and will be picked as the first overall pick in 2009 less and less than the last several years.<br /><br />3. Pitching is Unpredictable<br /><br />Sure, CC Sabathia, Johan Santana and Jake Peavy were great again. But we also had several players who performed even better than them such as Tim Lincecum and Cliff Lee.
